It’s not old news, just old ‘news people’ September 10, 2009

imagine-urlThis year’s version of the Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival highlight video debuted last week during New Student Orientation. Hopefully it instilled some pride within our newcomers about the exciting community they’ve now joined. And hopefully it encourages their parents to return next spring to experience the festival firsthand.

This is one of my favorite projects to work on, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. If you haven’t seen it yet, I invite you to take a look.

But what made this year’s effort particularly special for me was the opportunity to collaborate with so many former colleagues from my days at 13WHAM-TV. Of course Steve Czompo, the video’s director and editor, is my partner-in-crime when it comes to RIT video production. He and I served as the director-producer team for Channel 13’s 5 o’clock newscast all those years ago. Bryan Maslin, who worked on the production side of the news broadcast, is responsible for so many of the pretty pictures you see in the video. And Kathy Kriz, a former reporter and anchor with the station, did an awesome job with the narration. In some ways, it really did feel a bit like old times.

Although next year’s Imagine RIT festival is still seven months away, preparations will be ramping up soon. Expect to hear more on our progress in the month’s ahead, and be sure to join us on campus May 1.
